Jill Bargiel has been a correctonal educator for the past five years at the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit #11/Youth Forestry Camp #3 in James Creek, Pennsylvania. Previously she taught in public junior and senior high schools for ten years. Mrs. Bargiel has been a positive role model for her students through her hard work--always trying new methods of instruction and constantly encouraging them to persevere in reaching academic goals. Jill's students are always taught to value education and to respect themselves and others with the end result of becoming productive members of society.

Jill brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the classroom, which she gained from her 30-year business career prior to teaching. She uses her real-life experiences to engage her students and enhance their learning. This experience includes retail, real estate, and business/property management, and she contnues to sell real estate in her free time.

Accordingly, Jill strongly believes in the value of financial education, and she was instrumental in geƫng a Personal Finance program instituted in a public school where she taught. She has taught a wide variety of business-related subjects, including Computer Applications, Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Keyboarding. Jill has also taught at the (Pennsylvania) Governor's Instittute for Personal Finance and is a winner of the Governor's Award for Personal Finance.

Currently, Jill provides workforce preparation education to adjudicated youth with tremendously diverse educational needs, aptitudes, and career interests. Since many of her students lack computer skills, she helps develop their competencies in computer applications while teaching resumes, cover letters, and other job-search documents. She is also involved with career exploration graduation projects in which students develop and give PowerPoint presentations. In addition, Jill challenges and instructs her students to develop the skills necessary for acquiring an InternaƟonal Computer Driver's License (ICDL), and an impressive number succeed in achieving this recognized cerƟficate because of her individual instruction and constant encouragement.

Jill is especially proud of her efforts to launch the Ricoh Digital Literacy Program, a cooperative effort between the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit #11, Cal Poly University, and the Pennsylvania Academic Career and Technical Training Alliance (PACTT). Beginning with a college-level curriculum, she designed a way to deliver these highly marketable computer graphics and color print production skills to high school and post-secondary students.

Jill graduated from SUNY at Buffalo with a Business Administration degree and a minor in Spanish in 1982. She continued her studies with an emphasis on school counseling at Shippensburg University and Penn State University, obtaining her teaching certificate in 2002. Jill serves as treasurer of her church, as well as participating in other church activiites, and is active in the CEA and the Huntington County Real Estate organization. She has been the loving wife of Ronn for 27 years and loves her two stepchildren and three grandchildren
