Bio: The following Bio was obtained from Attorney Abramowitz Linked In Account
Jeffrey Abramowitz
I was a civil trial lawyer in Philadelphia for over twenty years before several poor choices led to a federal indictment and a five year sentence in the custody of the federal government. After completing my sentence, I accepted a position teaching GED Math for Community Learning Center, a Title II adult literacy agency, in October 2015, and in January 2016, I was promoted to Director of Student Services and Workforce Development. I have been instrumental in creating a blended adult education and workforce development program and developing an educational upskilling clinic, partnering with PA CareerLink® Suburban Station. I have created, developed and nurtured partnerships with employers, placement agencies, post-secondary institutions and trade organizations, all in an effort to more effectively place students, many with significant barriers, into the workforce. Most recently, I have initiated and created a Reentry Workshop at PA CareerLink® Suburban Station, helping returning citizens with the transition home, and helping them find their career pathway and employment. Additionally, I have also provided staff reentry sensitivity training at PA CareerLink®, and created a resource book for the Reentry Workshop. I am an active member of the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition, serving on the Education and Employment Committees. I sit on the Academic Advisory Board of Peirce College, Co-facilitate the Temple University New Opportunities Workshop, teach the Temple University Reentry Boot Camp, and regularly lecture at Temple University and throughout the country on criminal justice reform, reentry and workforce development topics. I am a member of the Society for Human Resources and have lectured at Mt. Airy Learning Tree teaching a course titled, “Orange is the New Black: An inside Look into the Criminal Justice System”.
